Adams is selected as the Overall County Official of the Year for the State of Utah

San Juan County Commissioner Bruce Adams was chosen among his county peers to be recognized as the 2012 Overall County Official of the Year at the Utah Association of Counties 88th Annual Convention last week.
“I would not want this in any way to over-shadow the day-to-day efforts of all our elected county officials,” said Adams in acceptance of the award at the closing banquet.
“We all work hard for our constituents to make Utah a better place, and it’s something we have to all work together at.”
Adams was chosen among nine elected county officials, one from each elected office in Utah, by a selection committee that met while at the Convention.
The committee was given background information, service records, and other materials highlighting each candidate’s qualifications.
From those details, along with a vote of Convention attendees, the committee made their selection.
Adams is the second elected county official from San Juan County to have received the overall award. Former County Commissioner Bill Redd was honored with the distinction in 2001.
The eight others in the running for County Official of the Year are Weber County Assessor John Ulibarri, Wayne County Auditor Ryan Torgerson, Summit County Attorney David Brickey, Kane County Clerk Karla Johnson, Uintah County Recorder Randy Simmons, Wasatch County Sheriff Todd Bonner, Salt Lake County Surveyor Reid Demman, and Weber County Treasurer John Bond.
