21st annual Bluff Balloon Festival set to take flight

The annual International Bluff Balloon Festival has been a staple in San Juan County for 21 years.
The three-day event is this weekend – Friday through Sunday, Jan. 18-20.
The festivities kick off on Friday at 7:30 a.m. with a Bluff flyover, which culminates at 5 p.m.
It will be followed by a Navajo taco supper sponsored by Bluff Elementary School.
On Saturday the festival continues with a Bluff flyover that starts at 7:30 a.m. followed by an artists market beginning at noon and lasting until 5 p.m.
From 4 p.m to 6 p.m. there will be an ice cream social and chili dinner. At 5:30 p.m. the popular Glow-in will take place to wrap up the activities on Saturday.
On the final day of the festival, Sunday, Jan. 20, the activities begin at 7 a.m. with a caravan to Valley of the Gods and a flyover at 7:30 a.m.
21 balloons will take flight at the festival this year, with 21 sponsors helping put on the annual event.
All events during the festival will be held at the Bluff Community Center and all flights are weather permitting.
Falarah Willeto, a fifth-grade student at Bluff Elementary School, had her art chosen for the Bluff Balloon Festival hat.
