2010 Reflections winners awarded at BES

The top entries in the 2010 Reflections Contest at Blanding Elementary School were awarded prizes on Thursday, April 15.
PTA President Nan Barton presented the winners and Michelle Jones awarded the certificates and prizes to the students.
First place winners received $10, second place $5, and third place $2. Honorable mentions were awarded in some categories, with students receiving a certificate and candy bar.
In the visual art category, winners in the primary division (grades K-2) are: Caleb Sivert (1st); Kalea Chamberlain (2nd); Savannah Hillhouse (3rd); Brydon Hunter, honorable mention.
Intermediate division (grades 3-5), winners are: Anne Hendry (1st); Jared Webb and Bodell Nielson (tie for 2nd) ; Hennessy Wesley (3rd); Skye Jeppson and Ashley Berrett, honorable mentions.
Literature category prizes in the primary division to: Jordan Clinger (1st); and Jordyn Moon (2nd).
Intermediate division winners are: Anne Hendry (1st); Brittany Hughes (2nd), Ammon Ward (3rd), and Ryann Shumway, honorable mention.
Three-dimensional art winners in the primary division are: Ryan Marian (1st); and Angela Marian (2nd).
Intermediate division winners are: Celeste Hillhouse (1st) and Zoie Chamberlain (2nd).
Dance category winners are: Brooklyn Grover (1st), and Kimberly Starkweather and Morgan Black (2nd).
Winners in the photography category are: Amanda Sivert (1st); Irie Shumway (2nd), and Ryan Marian (3rd). In the intermediate division, Steven Pugh was awarded first place.
All Reflections entries were on display at the school cafeteria for the public to view.
This was part of a PTA-sponsored Art and Literacy Night for the community. Several free art activities were available to the public. There were also children’s literature books to read together as a family, and paper for creating poems or stories. The event was well attended.

BES PTA encourages children to develop their abilities in art and literature, and we support teachers in their efforts in these areas as well.
