Residents are encouraged to use water conservation methods in their use of secondary water this spring to ensure a water availability later in the season.
Monticello City would also remind citizens that secondary water service is no longer mandatory for residents. At a citizen’s written request, services will be discontinued (forms are available at the City office). If a customer has disconnected secondary water services and wishes to have service reconnected, they will complete an application for connection and pay a reconnection fee (currently $80.00) to reinstate the service.
Also effective April 1, 2010, secondary water users with a one-inch connection will be charged $25.20 from April through September instead of $12.60 from April through March. Annual customers will continue to pay $151.20 for the year, due in April.
The new billing schedule more closely corresponds with the secondary water’s schedule for use; it is generally turned on mid-to-late April and turned off around mid-October. A schedule of fees for larger connections is available at the City Offices.
Secondary water customers with questions are encouraged to call the Monticello Public Works Department at 587-3730, or are invited to visit the City offices.
