Unique Creations and Gifts in Monticello will begin selling fresh cut flowers and arrangements on May 6, just in time for Mother’s Day.

There will be many varieties of flowers to choose from and others can be ordered at customer request. The store is currently taking pre-orders for the Mother’s Day shipment.

The addition is an appropriate fit for Sarah Pipkin, owner of Unique Creations, who has used her creativity and skill in the community of Monticello for more than 17 years.

She aims to create “fresh and fun arrangements to brighten someone’s day, wish happy birthday, show gratitude, welcome new babies, and offer peace in times of mourning.”

The store at 108 South Main has been a mainstay in the community since 2001. The ambiance is decidedly optimistic. Cheery gifts include gift baskets, crafts, home decor, scrapbook supplies, custom shirts, clothing, plants, and balloons.

There’s a clear sense of family and warmth throughout the store. Sarah’s daughters, son, and grandkids often join her to help put together projects for customers. She’ll fill a couple balloons for the grandkids to chase.

Her husband Fritz, the “Maintenance Man,” builds wood projects and does anything else that’s needed. Her son helps cut wood letters on the CNC machine, among other things. The family helps each other when they can.

The long work tables at the back of the store are in constant use. Unique Creations has been a successful business in a small community largely because of Sarah’s relentless work ethic.

“I think the key to success is being constant – keeping the same hours and providing the service people have come to know and expect. I work long hours trying to make sure I have everything done when people need it.”

“I am so grateful for all those who have and continue to support me in this crazy venture! I love my customers and friends who frequent my store!”

Unique Creations is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 435-587-3355 to pre-order flowers.
