The San Juan Chamber of Commerce will begin to hold monthly meetings in Monticello and Blanding. The Chamber is pursuing a structure of having community-based chapters for the county-wide Chamber of Commerce.

Local businesses, entrepreneurs, and other organizations are invited to attend a meeting at the Monticello City offices on Wednesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. The group will meet in Monticello on the second week of every month.

The Monticello group will focus on community-based issues and projects. Tyler Hall, of Artisan Jewelers, is leading the local committee. Hall has been involved in a number of projects, including the Gingerbread House tour and the Pioneer Day Treasure Hunt.

In Blanding, a group is scheduled to meet on the third Thursday of the month. The first official meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m. at the Blanding City Office.

Cheryl Bowers, of the Blanding City Council, is leading the local committee in Blanding. Bowers is interested in developing the local business community and leading efforts to encourage the support of local businesses.

Earlier this week, Logan Sisam with Be Ready Utah worked with the Chamber to sponsor a Community Preparedness Meeting in the new San Juan Public Health building in Blanding.
