There are four categories: Large (full & king size); Small (twin-baby); Miscellaneous (wall hanging, runners, etc), and 4-H camp. The quilts can’t have been shown in previous Blanding shows. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each category.
Bring the quilts to the Blanding Wellness center between 1 and 4 p.m. on July 3. Be sure to fill out an entry form at the time.
In addition to the quilt show, there will be a country market and a beautiful display featuring the work of EveLyn Perkins. She was the first president when the guild was organized 19 years ago and has been an active participant ever since.
The Grayson Country Quilters are also busy selling tickets for this year’s 4th of July quilt, which was made by Callie Randall and her daughters. Besides the cost of quilting, the fabric alone cost $137, so give generously to a good cause!
Tickets can be purchased at the quilt show, or at Clark’s market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The drawing for the quilt will be at 4 p.m. on July 4. Winners of the quilt show will also be announced at that time.
Proceeds from ticket sales are used to fund quilting projects throughout the next year. This includes baby quilts for Blue Mountain Hospital, Quilts of Valor for the military, quilts for foster children, and state projects such as the Beat Breast Cancer Quilt, and charity quilts for those in need.
The guild will also be participating in the Bluff Art Festival in October and the annual 4-H sewing camp.
