San Juan County welcomed a New Year baby when little Verdonia Atene was born on New Years Day. Atene was delivered at 8:34 a.m. on January 1, 2014 at the San Juan Hospital in Monticello.

Verdonia is the daughter of Ophelia Cuthair and Verdon Atene of Monticello. She was delivered by Dr. Kelly Jeppesen and is 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

The New Year baby returns home to eager siblings DeAngelo Lee, Angel Lee, Cyril Lansing, Terrell Lansing, Lacriyona Cuthair and Locren Cuthair.

She also receives a host of gifts as the New Year baby. Donors include Moticello Merc, San Juan County Library, San Juan Pharmacy, Utah Educational Savings Plan, Out West Food and Fuel, Eagle Air Med, Blue Mountain Foods, Wagon Wheel Pizza, Monticello High School, Randys Auto, San Juan Record, Second to None Thrift Store, PJs, and San Juan Health Services.
