During his time as a student, Matt got a job in the hospitality industry, and quickly worked his way up to a management position. Upon completion of his economics degree, with a weakening job market, Matt decided to enroll in a graduate program. He earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
While Matt was attending SUU, he and Kelli had two children. Matt stayed busy volunteering as a little league baseball coach, participating on the Southern Utah University Investment Research Team, and being a dedicated member of the SUU College Republicans.
After graduation Matt accepted a job with the San Juan School District, and has spent the past few years working as the Human Resource Specialist. He now has an extensive understanding of how San Juan County’s largest public entity operates. Combine this with his broad experience in operating businesses in the private sector, and Matt has the perfect background for serving as a Monticello City Councilmen.
Matt understands the challenges and opportunities that are ever present in both the private and public sector. He is willing to be part of the process that is tasked with making difficult decisions. Not just the decision to cut spending when necessary, but also the decision to spend when it is in the best interest of the city. The only agenda he has is to see that Monticello City is managed properly and has a sound, safe environment for its citizens.
