Jacobsen dropped just one match while working his way through a tough bracket at 138 pounds. He defeated wrestlers from Gunnison, Enterprise and Beaver while dropping a close 7-5 decision to Millard in the semifinal.
With the third place finish, Jacobsen claimed a podium finish for all four years he was in high school. He finished fifth at the state tournament in his weight class as a freshman, sophomore and junior.
Jacobsen led a seven-wrestler contingent from San Juan in the state tournament.
Domonik Perkins and Jayson McDaniel each won two matches in the double elimination tournament.
Jens Grover had a first round pin. Trevor Buck, Jeffrey Lee and Lakeem Benally also participated in the tournament.
For the Whitehorse Raiders, Tyson Chilly won four matches in the 1A tournament on his way to a third place finish at 145 pounds. Chilly’s only loss was a 7-4 nail biter to Altamont.
Raiders finishing in fourth place are Brandon Lansing at 220 pounds and Shawn Carter at 285 pounds.
Other Raider wrestling in the tournament are Dylan Lansing and Ric Bushyhead.
