The Bucks were nearly perfect against Cortez in a 66-12 win. Roque DeAnda wasted no time, winning by fall in just over a minute. Randy Jelly worked hard, but came up short in a loss. Kelland Brewer got taken down early but came back and pinned his opponent in the third period. Coltan Musselman led 9-0 before winning by fall in the second period. Trevor Wagstaff had a strong first period lead and won by fall in the second period. Austin Wilcox wrapped things up with a 27-second win by fall.
The Buckaroos then took on the San Juan Broncos and again were nearly perfect, putting a 54-18 win in the books.
Hunter Bowring dominated San Juan’s Garrett Barton with a second period win by fall. Roque DeAnda faced Russell Musselman in an exciting match. DeAnda was able to turn Musselman twice in the match giving him the edge in the 13-7 win.
Brian Robinson took on Bronco Jayson McDaniel, winning by fall in less than a minute. Kelland Brewer took Jerel Todachinnie down quickly and worked hard for his first period win by fall.
Bronco Jayden Squires defeated Curtis Baird in a hard fought battle. Coltan Musselman faced Sterling Black, pinning him in the first period.
Tim Ryan kept things in the win column for the Bucks in an exciting match against Jade Grover. The final win came from Austin Wilcox, who worked hard against San Juan’s Jens Grover in a strong 7-0 win. Jake Giles came up short against Bronco Nathan Webb, who won by fall.
Over the weekend the Buckaroos travelled to the North Sanpete Tournament where they wrapped up a fifth place team finish behind Millard, Richfield, North Sanpete and Manti.
Senior CJ Cordasco was the lead man for the Buckaroos, bringing home a championship medal. Cordasco dominated his Juab opponent in an exciting 16-3 major decision win in the championship match.
Finishing second for the Buckaroos is Coltan Musselman. Musselman faced Tuttle of Millard in the finals and came up short in a 6-2 loss.
Trevor Wagstaff was strong on the weekend, suffering a tough loss just one match from the finals, and earning a third place medal. Freshmen Austin Wilcox and Hunter Bowring battled tough opponents to fourth place finishes.
Tim Ryan and John Mayne earned fifth place medals and Dailyn Warren finished sixth. Also wrestling were Randy Jelly and Kelland Brewer.
In the simultaneous JV tournament, Jake Giles brought home a first place finish, Moe Beh and Curtis Baird earned second place medals and Roque DeAnda, Joe Engle and Eric Anderson earned third place medals.
The Bucks are at the Divisional (Region) Tournament in Escalante beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Next week, the Bucks are at the state tournament at Utah Valley University.
