The San Juan School District spelling bee was held on February 26 at San Juan High School.

The winner is Jared Ward of Albert R Lyman Middle School, followed closely by schoolmate Noah Kemner and Annsheri Reay of Monticello Elementary School.

Contestants were sent from Monticello Elementary, Monticello High, Blanding Elementary, Albert R Lyman Middle School, and Bluff Elementary.

Three finalists will attend a Regional Spelling Bee in Moab on March 19. The schools each sent three contestants, which were selected at spelling bees at each school.

Other spellers in the contest include Brayson Wilcox, Benjamin Salazar, Emily Jacobsen, Grange Simpson, Anne Marie Barton, Shelbie Musselman, Cole Patterson, Jake Freestone, Natalia Sampson, Nigel Sam, Jordan Clinger and Kaitlyn Crippen.
