More than 250 children from Monticello Elementary School rang in the holidays at Zions Bank, joining teachers, parents, and bank employees in the branch’s lobby for the annual “Lights On” ceremony.

On Wednesday, December 4, kindergarten through sixth-grade students from Monticello Elementary hung their handmade ornaments on the Christmas tree inside Zions Bank’s Monticello branch at 233 East Center St.

In return, the students received a cash donation for their school. The decorated tree will be on display in the bank’s lobby through the holidays.

“It has become one of our favorite traditions to have students from the Monticello Elementary School come into the bank and decorate our tree,” said Derryl Jack, manager of Zions Bank’s Monticello branch. “We express appreciation to the kids for making the decorations and to their teachers for helping them. Their creativity is very inspiring.”

Throughout Utah, elementary school students are participating in the annual “Lights On” tree-trimming tradition by making colorful decorations for Christmas trees in Zions Bank branch lobbies. In addition, a number of Zions Bank offices have invited students from special-needs classes and Title 1 schools to decorate the trees in their lobbies. Zions Bank has been inviting students to participate in this annual holiday event for 49 years.

Zions Bank is Utah’s oldest financial institution and the only local bank with a statewide distribution of branches, operating 98 full-service branches. See, Member FDIC.
