A host of local runners participated in the Moab Relay on May 8.  Teams completed a 50-mile relay course that started in Castle Valley, ran along the La Sal Mountain Loop Road, and finished in Moab.

On Saturday, May 8, 2010, the Moab Relay hosted 30 teams from the states of Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, and Utah. These teams completed a 50-mile course that started in Castle Valley, ran along the LaSal Mountain Loop Road, and finished in Moab at the Old City Park. This race is run relay-style with teams made up of 6, 5, 4, or 3 team members.

Overall winner: “Team Moab” completed the course in 6:8.45 defending their 2009 title.

Winner of the Women’s Category—“Blew by You!” with team members Tamra Lewis, Lori Maughn, Julie Bunker, Jessie Jensen, Shanna Black, and Shannon Bursach.

Also in the Women’s Division: “Smokin’ Hot Mamas” with Amy Westcott, Laura Butler, Vanessa Young, Tammy Wallace, Sylvia DeMille, and Heidi Doel.

Participating in the Men’s Division: Team “Got the Runs” with Matt Briggs, Nick Fox, Rick Clark, Chaz Black, Kirk Hazleton, and Scott Burton.

Local teams in the Mixed Division: “Funner Runners” with Alisa Neilson, Sumer Wilcox, Heather Jensen, Bryan Adams, Layne Barney, and Pete Anderson, “The Replacements” with Trent Schafer, Bert Manheimer, Lindy Frost, Valorie Frost, Cody Randall, and Kalei Fisher, team “Grumpy” with Doug Aiken, Marcie Aiken, Jason Okerlund, Mary Okerlund, Tyler Okerland, and Tara DeSpain, team “Xtreme Trainin” with Jenna LaRose, Randy LaRose, John David Nielson, Shannon Young, Justin Redd, and Koryn Knudson, team “Barely Makin’ Hills” with Rachael Hatcher, Summer Wojcik, Andrea Nielson, Josh Nielson, Chad Moses, and David Lyman, and team “Bones Movin’ Uphill” with Codi Orr, George Jones, Jay Jones, Arin Shumway, Abigail Hatcher, and Beth Millward.
