Mary Lou Duckett Hoggard, age 76, passed away at home in Delta, UT on January 11, 2013 surrounded by family.

Mary Lou was born February 6, 1936 in Spanish Fork, UT, the oldest daughter of Lloyd B. and Sarah Louise Dowley Duckett.

She married Keith E. Hoggard on September 6, 1952, in Monticello, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 6, 1977.

Mary Lou has lived in Delta for the last eight years. Previously, she lived in Monticello, Midvale, and Sandy.

Mary Lou served faithfully in various callings as a member of LDS Church. She had a love for Relief Society, where she served for many years in various positions. She served for many years in Cub Scouts and Primary with her boys. She also taught Family Preparedness for ten years.

She served in the P.T.A. as President, Vice President, Historian and Room Mother for all of her children.

She enjoyed the association with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Red Hat Society, which she spoke of often.

She volunteered for many years with the American Legion, placing flags at the Monticello Cemetery for the Veterans, a service that she took over after her Aunt Gerd passed away.

She worked as a Clerk in the San Juan County Justice Courts for three years and as Manager of Motor Vehicle Division in San Juan County Assessor’s Office for 17 years.

Previously, she owned and managed Fashion Elle Pet Salon (Dog Groomery) for about six years in Salt Lake City and owned and managed the family restaurant “Hogies” with her husband in Monticello.

She wrote a column for the San Juan Record “What’s New by Mary Lou” from 1995 to 2004.

She enjoyed her family gatherings, especially when a weenie roast was part of the activity.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years; sons Michael K. (Celia) of Mesquite, NV; Kenneth D. (Jan) of Bear River; UT; W. Rick (Marsha) of Taylorsville, UT; Steven W. (Mary) of Kaysville, UT; L. Kirk (Jayleen) of Delta, UT; daughter-in-law Denise (Steve) Martin, of Monticello; sister Loya Rae (Richard) Holt; and cousin (like a brother), Winn (Lorraine) Westcott of Monticello.

She is preceded in death by her parents and son Kim L. Hoggard.

Mary Lou will be missed by her children, 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m., at the Monticello Stake Center, 165 South Main St, in Monticello. Viewings will be held Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Nickle Mortuary in Delta and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the chapel in Monticello. Burial in the Monticello City Cemetery.
