June 25, 1936 ~ August 22, 2018

Charles Lynn (“Lynn”) Carter was born in Eureka, UT on June 25, 1936, to Charles Lynn (“Pete”) and Ruth (Twitchell) Carter. He passed away peacefully on August 22, 2018 at his home in Moab, UT.

Lynn was always quick with a joke and was quite a prankster in his youth.

He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961.

In addition to other jobs, Lynn worked mostly as a heavy equipment operator in copper and uranium mining and, later, for the Federal Aviation Administration, from which he eventually retired.

Over the years, he worked in numerous western states.

Lynn married Shirley Pipkin on November 15, 1966. They were happily married for 51 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and loved to golf. He was a great dancer and a good bowler.

Lynn is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bruce Carter; his daughter, Wendy Carter Daniels; and his granddaughter, Stephanie Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his siblings LaGrand (Barbara), Sherry, LaDean, Craig (Denice), and Karen Carter; his children Bill (Beth) Carter, Jodie Peltz (Steve Smith), Randall Carter, Starla Johnson and Mitchell Carter; his grandchildren Katie Corcione, Kerri (Brandon) Kirk, Samantha Carter, and Eric (Amelia) Peltz; great-grandchildren Sierra Corcione, Kobi Corcione, Phoenix Kirk, Avie Hansen, Ashton Peltz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Monticello cemetery.

He will be greatly missed.
