For the second year in a row, Diamond C Fuels beat Native Guns in the final of the Midnight Madness softball tourney on July 4 in Blanding.  A total of 22 teams participated in the annual tournament. The Monticello High School track teams brought home two trophies from the 1A State Tournament on May 18-19.  The boys and girls teams each earned a second place trophy at the tournament, which was held at Brigham Young University.  With five trophies for the school year, including championship trophies in volleyball and boys cross country, in addition to runner-up trophies in wrestling and boys and girls track, Monticello closes out the school year with one of the most successful athletic years in memory. Local wrestlers from Monticello did well at the 2012 South / Central Little League State Wrestling Championship on Saturday, March 31 in Salina, UT.  Members of the team are photographed above.  Bringing home individual state wrestling titles are Shandon Bradford, Zac Musselman,  Dillon Wheeler and Tyson Wheeler.  Second place finishes went to Cole Patterson and Paxton Christensen.  Third place finishes went to Brayson Wilcox, Wyatt Wheeler, Joshua Wheeler, and Robert Musselman.  Fourth place finish went to Tyler Draper.  The team placed second overall among other 1A schools.
