Easter week activities planned in San Juan

Join the First Baptist Church of Monticello in celebrating the resurrection of the Savior with several special services on Easter Sunday. First, is a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. at Loyds Lake. Following the sunrise service the remaining activities will take place at the church location, 116 East 500 North. Breakfast is at 8 a.m. followed by an Easter egg hunt for the kids. The church will join together for Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and the morning worship service is at 11 a.m.
There are several wards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the area. They will hold Sacrament meetings at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m generally with no other meetings so families can spend the rest of the day together. Many wards will feature special musical numbers as part of their worship services.
The San Juan Community Church in Monticello is having its annual Easter Revival. Services on Wednesday March 27 will be lead by Mike Wilcox beginning at 7 p.m. Dave Goodman will lead services on Thursday at 7 p.m. Josh Baird will give his sermon on Friday night March 29 at 7 p.m. There will also be a community “sing-a-long” featuring Jeri Burt on guitar, Jill Pearson on piano with Michelle Baird as chorister.
Easter Sunrise service is held Sunday morning at 7 a.m. with Gary Halls. The Community Church holds weekly Bible Study on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. They also lead Bible Study at the San Juan County Library in Blanding on Wednesday nights at 6 p.m. (25 West 300 South). Sunday services each week are; Bible Study at 10 a.m., Worship service at 11 a.m. and Evening service at 6 p.m. The San Juan Community Church is located at 200 South 217 East in Monticello. All are welcome.
St. Christopher Mission in Bluff will have Maundy Thursday services at 6 p.m. on March 28. Good Friday Liturgy will be at noon on March 29. The Way of the Cross will take place Friday evening at 5 p.m. Easter Sunday St. Christophers will have the Great Vigil Holy Eucharist near the river, followed by a brunch at the Retreat Center. Holy Eucharist will then be held at 10 a.m. at the Mission. No services are planned in Oljato this year.
